In 2014, the Popeyes Bahamas Bowl was the first and only international bowl game played outside of the US. For their inaugural bowl game, they commissioned a new custom trophy from Levy after meeting at the Football Bowl Association trade show. The Bahamas Bowl wanted to create a trophy that was both classy and embodied elements of the Bahamas to present to the winning team of their first bowl game.
Levy created a custom trophy design inspired by the beautiful beaches of the Bahamas. It featured a tan Corian base to represent the sand and turquoise to represent the water. Additionally, the trophy was mounted on black wood with black wood pillars used to support the football resting on the top base. In the center of the bottom base features a conch shell and acrylic laser cut palm trees that adhere to the pillars.
The trophy stands at 30’ tall weighing in at nearly 30 pounds. After a successful design and manufacture of the trophy, it was presented to Western Kentucky University for their first bowl win. WKU also ordered mini replicas of their championship bowl game trophy to give to the coaching staff and friends of the WKU football program.
The same trophy design was utilized in 2015. Mini replicas of the champion trophy were made for each member of the winning team.
